Meet Tim.
As a retired expat, living in the Philippines, Tim takes you along his journey on navigating day-to-day life in a different country.
We had a chance to talk to Tim and learn a bit more about his life as a creator.
Tell us a bit more about your channel.
Travel, day in the life, expat budgeting, cooking, whatever my wife and I are getting into. (Tito Tim is Tagalog for ‘Uncle Tim’)
Why did you become a creator?
When I retired and moved from Texas to the Philippines, I initially posted some videos for my brother; he wanted to see where I lived in the Philippines. Then, other people started watching, so I just kept posting. Now I am trying to share my experiences integrating in a foreign country. It was a couple of years before I even thought of myself as a ‘creator’. BTW this week my channel finally hit 1 million views. It only took 5 years and almost 600 videos haha (I am patient).
Where do you get inspiration for your videos?
Mostly sharing our adventures, and thoughts about being an expat. Viewers request videos on some topics.
Who are some of your favorite YouTube creators?
Creator Insiders, Midway to Mainstreet, Brie Larson, PowerDirector University, and America’s Test Kitchen. (and all the US late night talk shows)
What one piece advice would you give to your fellow creators?
Best advice I would give would be to make videos you enjoy and would want to see – if you do not like your videos… what is the point? Best advice I received is that YT is a marathon, not a sprint.
